Plan Ahead!

One question that is asked the most often is what to wear! So, if you are struggling with what to wear, you are not alone! My answer to this is not a one answer fits all. Although, the biggest advice I could give is to dress comfortably. Each photo session is unique and I would dress according to the settings you chose and the style of photos you want to have taken. If there is one thing I love about being a Montana family photographer, it is knowing that we have so many resources and stunning scenery around us that will work for just about any photographic style.

Helpful Tips:

Here a few simple things to help:

Matchy-matchy is OUT!
For groups, pick a color and try to use a few different shades and then maybe a “pop” of color here and there.
Try to refrain from clothing with big bold text/logos/distracting colors.
Add a hat or something special to add a little different flair.
Plan on bringing an outfit change or two!
Bring a personal item or anything you think would be fun and represent you.

Sessions with small children:

Advice for sessions with small children:

Snacks that are not messy are a good idea to bring to encourage your child and keep their attention span for a bit.
Carry wipes to clean up any messes that may arise.
Bring extra outfits in case the one you planned is too uncomfortable for the child.
Make sure your child’s face is clean!
Don’t mention the snacks before your session; it is best to save them until they are having trouble lasting the session.

Remember to relax and HAVE FUN! The best photos are the ones that show your connections and capture the fun moments together! Not everything will go according to your plans, but I can promise you will love the memories and the images that capture them!
